How does orthodontic insurance work?
Every insurance carrier and their subscribers have different arrangements; therefore the benefits provided vary from person to person. Also, orthodontic insurance differs greatly from regular dental benefits in that there normally is a lifetime maximum for orthodontic coverage available to each insured individual. These benefits usually cover a percentage of the overall orthodontic fee until the maximum is reached. Generally, lost or broken appliances are not covered by insurance.
How does this office assist you with insurance?
For the convenience of our patients, we offer flexible payment plans and accept payment from a number of insurance companies. Our financial team will be glad to assist you with submitting insurance claims for the services received at our office. Please remember though that our primary financial relationship is with you, the patient, not your respective insurance carrier. We can make financial arrangement based on the estimated insurance benefit, but any outstanding insurance claims not paid become the sole responsibility of the patient/guardian.
Helpful tips:
- Be knowledgeable of your insurance benefits before beginning treatment. Contact your insurance company if you are unsure of your exact orthodontic benefits and find out how much you can expect to be paid as well as when payment will be made. We will also verify coverage before treatment begins.
- We will be happy to submit insurance claims for you. Please provide us with the name, address and phone number of your insurance provider.
- If you have a Flexible Spending Account, you may use a copy of your cancelled check or a receipt of payment provided for our office to receive reimbursement.
- You will notice when signing your financial contract that it is for the entire treatment fee, minus the estimated insurance benefit. Please be aware that any outstanding balance by the insurance carrier is your responsibility.
